The picture of the drive way and smoke with Old Glory and the sunset is my house.
I will get my son to use his camera for some shop pictures.
My daughter has some on her phone as well.
I will see what I can do.

I met a new friend today. He wants to remain anonymous to the forum. He drove across the state to bring me supplies that I would never have thought of.
We sat on the porch and swapped stories like any friends do.
I can not thank you guys enough.
I have to pay it forward for the rest of my life.
There is a silver lining in every cloud.
My family has come from the four winds.
Sat on the porch last night. Sore back and tired.
Watching my two, two year old grandsons meet for the first time.
It was worth staying up late.
Took them about ten minutes for one to hit the other with a toy!
Tomorrow I will teach them to cuss and spit.
One thing to keep in mind guys, he has no buildings left to put things in. Shelter for this winter is going to be a big issue. If
I had a way, I'd put a crew together and go build/re-build some shelter for him.... Still tryin' to figger that out....
Pete
He can rent a container pretty cheap- they're weather-tight and lockable.
Here are a few photos of 1800miner’s property, showing the destruction caused by the fire. There are also a few showing a large bevel gear that he is searching for a pinion gear to mate with it. It will be part of a working display at a local park, powered by a hit and miss engine.
The photos were taken by a site member who drove a load of supplies up to miner – he wishes to remain anonymous.

As Pete said, a shelter for stuff is a big deal or a shop of some sort with benches, concrete floors, electricity, lighting and storage etc. so the machines and tools donated can be used to rebuild and/or repair what is salvageable. I'm not sure what miner has planned but I'm quite certain he is overwhelmed with the task at hand as any of us would be. So Pete, if you figure out how to make a shelter/shop happen count me in and I'll do what I can to help. I'm retired and can take the time to fly down for a worthy cause. PM me with details or ideas.
Yes I got the package. Thank you. And it is confusing to get a package with a name I don't recognize. I run to the computer and start looking up names and locations so I can figure out who sent it.
Today I received a package and letter form the Starrett Company.
I quote
Hi Darl,
We have seen many of the stories of the wild fire in California this season here at Starrett and your story
in particular caught our attention. While our warranty doesn't cover " cooked metrology tools" we
still see all manner of tools come back. We thought this 0-3" micrometer set and 120A-6 caliper
would be a start on rebuilding your shop. We hope you'll be able to put them to good use.
The best of lick on rebuilding your shop from your friends at Starrett.

There was a lump in my throat. I read the letter to my son and told him to be sure that these tools get passed on to a grandchild, with a copy of the letter.
Darl needs to rebuild his shop. I contacted him about what his plan was for a shop. First he needs to pour a slab. So I asked him to set up a PayPal account to make it easy to send him a donation. He balked at the idea but finally did it. So if as many of us that can would send him whatever amount we would feel comfortable with to get his slab in that would go a long way to getting him going.
Don't worry how little you send. Every bit will help. If you don't have a PayPal account and would like to contribute send me a PM. He has an estimate of around $3,500 for the slab. Most everything else he has already to build the shop.
Darl, I hope you are not upset that I posted this here. I didn't ask because you would have probably said no! Too late. Is it OK to post your email in this thread Darl? If not the members could PM me or you for the email address for your PayPal account.

How to become a millionaire: Start out with 10 million and take up machining as a hobby!
I have so many people on this forum to thank. I don't know if I can keep track of all of them.
I didn't realize all the goodness in this world.
I look up at the heavens and say "Thank you" a lot more these days.
I was given thee 40' sea trains from a neighbor that lost everything.
I am in the process of replacing the burnt flooring and then painting inside and out.
Years ago I sold another neighbor a Quonset hut. they never put it up and eventually abandoned the property.
I contacted them about buying it back, they said it was mine for free.
the Quonset is 20' wide so the seatrains will be 20' apart with the Quonset sitting on the inside walls of the seatrains.
Concrete slab under the Quonset, piers under the containers.
The third one is for the wife's garden and it will serve as one side of her greenhouse.
Everyone is waiting for the state funded cleanup crews to move in. I am sure that will take time.
I don't expect to have cleared land before Thanksgiving.
You guys don't know how many tears and lumps in the throat I have had from your generosity. Thank you.
