  • Jacob's tap collets - how to use

What's the best to do with these?

    Tailstock die holder addition?
    Thomas pillar tool type thing?

Where else do these fit in? Came with some extra collets too.

Those are often found on tapping heads. I like this style, as they are adjustable for different tap sizes, don't need one for each tap. The straight shank makes them useful for power tapping in the mill and holding a tap in the lathe tailstock when used with a drill chuck or collet. For lathe tapping, I prefer to use a sliding, free rotating attachment that can turn in your hand if the tap hangs up or bottoms out. One of these could fit on that setup.

The chuck on the right side looks to be similar in size to the one fitted to my Tapmatic Tapping Head.

The range of each chuck may be imprinted on the shank. If not, such information is available online. I seem to recall that the collets are spendy.

Those look like useless, scrap metal. Just send them to me and I will dispose of them properly.

And if you look REAL close at an analog signal,
You will find that it has discrete steps.
