A question about grinding lathe cutting tools on a belt sander

    First, I don't know what happened to the photos I posted in # 43 ?
    Must be a HSM Server issue ?

    DO NOT slit the belts under power !
    For a particular width, say 3/16 " , I put a utility knife on the platen ( from the rear) and pierce the back of the belt and then turn the belt backwards by hand while holding the knife in place and using the platen for support ( think of trying to cut 3/16" off the platen with the knife and you get the idea.
    Many belts will "rip" by themselves after starting. Be sure to start the slit near the splice and cut through the splice before trying to rip the belt.

    I just rechecked the forum after several hours and the pictures are back, so my comment above is a non issue.
