From a tool obsessed gadget collector perspective, it's cool, but what will you use it for? Outside of scaring the neighbors as I rose above the house suddenly from the back yard on my magic platform, I can't think of a good use for something like that for a home shop.
What's the deal?

I took a load of junk to my favorite junkyard today, the owner will trade me pound for pound clean scrap for whatever I find useful. He had this little portable manlift he just got in and asked me if I wanted it,I looked and said sure.
Its uses a liftgate pump and 12volt battery for power, has a built in charger and has 110vac outlets in the bucket.I got it home and stuck a battery in it,hit the switch and nothing, shorted the solinoid and up she went.
Now,as for what I'm going to use it for?I am planning a new shop building, this will come in handy for things like screwing down roof metal, hanging lights and conduit and installing the overhead crane hot rails and such.In other words,NO MORE FREAKING LADDERS!
Oh did I mention that its mounted on four casters and has these neat little outriggers that fold up so it will fit through a walkin door?Neat!Best part,it cost me 850# of #1scrap,or about $25.00

Don't worry, the deer here are nearly tame, they'll never notice the whine of the liftpump Just realised,it has a 350# cap,I can use it to dress with to:
Its not too unstable, but I wouldn't use it in a wind storm either.I have rented a few like it before and usually tie the bucket off once I'm up.
That will be great for your lightning experiments!
Heck, I'd mount an easy chair to it and use it to watch parades and Nascar races. That could have a thousand uses. Weld it into your truck for quick deployment.
Hey, you could use that lift to get a closer look at arcing in power systems. See the failed switch video that Errol showed us. (volts and amps) Just make sure you put an insulator under each of the castors.
I seldom do anything within the scope of logical reason and calculated cost/benefit, etc- I'm following my passion-
Yes the possiblities are endless, windloads seen that, them electric scissor lifts take first place in the flapjack category, its suprising how far they will bow side ways before they tip over.
I cleaned up and oiled the outrigger jacks today, gonna try and track down the wiring fualts tommorow, one ore more toggle switches is bad I think.
