  • Any one need a shaper ?

This old 1940's shaper just showed up on the Oregon Coasts Craig's list, I thought I would post it here to see of any of you was looking for one. I have no interest or room for one even if I did want one.. I don't know if it's a good deal or not. https://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/tls/6032252413.html

A bit too far away for me. Seems a little pricey anyway.

          SHAPER on Ebay

I saw an Atlas 7" on ebay for $375 a couple days ago. I was in Colorado I think, and was for pick up only.

I'm in FL & fixing to move overseas, so I'm not buying it..........They are nice machines though....

          Best,
          David

I like that Cinci! Looks like it is in great condition. Id buy that for 500-600 if I had the space. You lucky folks in the outskirts of town have plenty of nice land. I dont, my choice right

That 1200$ shaper is just another small 6-9 inch shaper, us folks with small spaces will pay 1200 bones for. A nice Atlas or (.....) shaper (shaper comes up as a mis-spelled word with spell check?) .

I do like that 28", 8000lb (I dont think so) Cinci shaper. Isnt 28" considered small for the larger shapers, 40"+ ??

Nice small "Planer" AKA 28" hydraulic shaper is a perfect Home Shop dual purpose tool.

I am on board just as soon as some one sells me a Quonset hut (75x300ft) with land attached. I would LOVE to move from So Cal. It is very expensive here, and crowded as its ever been.

75x300 Q-hut shows 22 thousand sq ft. Remember the roof is sloped, you lose upward space fast. I am a big fan of Q-Huts. The bigger the better.

Dreaming of pie in the sky LOL..

Dont pay 1200 bucks for a 6-7" shaper unless that is what works for you. If you wait, the 6-7" shaper will land in yer lap for 200-350. The small ones are really nice.

So solly I rambled. I get to I am old JR

That is a crank shaper, not hydraulic. Most of the big shapers topped out at 36" stroke, anything longer is rare as hens teeth.

its a big shaper. They sort of scale overall....I remember looking a 36" GE once, it was like standing next to a Euclid. I have don't have troubling believing a 28" shaper could weight 8,000 pounds....no direct knowledge just the sense that big are shapers are BIG

Everyone may like a shaper, but if you're buying the price should be a little more reasonable. I bought an identical Ammco shaper (complete with the war board approval plaque) a few years ago when the Badger Army Ammunition production facility in Baraboo WI was shutting down. The machine is in like new condition and cost about 10% of what the seller is asking.

Originally they tried selling it as a single lot item. When no one was interested they bundled it with a couple dividing heads and rotary tables. A friend of mine bought the lot for the dividing heads and sold me the shaper.

So true. I sold my identical Ammco shaper a year ago so I could fund a new band saw, for $600. Same War Department bade and all, in perfect running condition. I included a new replacement phenolic bull gear with it. (My brother makes up a batch of these every several years to sell to enthusiasts)

The small ones bring much more than the big ones by far, at least here.

Is that Cincinnati really 8000lbs? Trying to get a sense of its scale next to the stairs, but I'm not seeing that it's appreciably bigger than a Bridgeport. A standard Bridgeport weighs in at about a ton, so how does this shaper weigh in at 4 tons???
