  • OT: Microsoft Security Essentials

As I type I've been waiting about 45 minutes for MSE to update virus & spyware definitions.
It advances to a certain point and then sticks there.

I have Win 7 so is this no longer covered by Microsoft?

A cynic would say that this is Microsoft's way to encourage you to move to Windows 10, spyware edition.

All the spyware has been installed into Win7 with windows updates. Google for some light reading.

Today is Microsoft's patch-day Tuesday, so there will be a lot of downloads going on. They also packet shape (throttle) traffic to give later versions of Windows priority. Just be patient and it'll get there.

Not if you stopped doing updates years ago. My rule - If it wasn't found and fixed in the first 10 years, dont' worry about it.
