It's ANOTHER undescribed link to YT! This practice should be discouraged at the bare minimum.

BTW I didn't click on the link.

It's a video from Make it Extreme on making a heavy duty vise from scratch.
I too agree people should have more respect for other people's time.

might not be anything wrong with the vid, its more the cumulative affect of so many postings with meaningless topic titles

Poor Alistair, his timing was perfect.

Thanks for the link Alistair. I watched the video and enjoyed every bit to the end.

                  Agree..bad title. Come on.

I saw that video a while back. The vise is nice..except the puny little screws to
hold the jaws. If you are twisting on something in vert
                  position, they will shear.

I don't see what's wrong with the title. It's not as if I will watch videos of making heavy duty presses but not heavy duty vices. It's a video of a heavy duty something - I'm either in the mood to watch it or I'm not.

As it is, I watched some of it. And I was pleased to. And I didn't think much of the design. But I was glad I watched it. Made me have a slightly higher opinion of my own work. For a while.

It's not like it his first time posting with a meaningless thread title.
I'm sure it won't be his last either.

A vise is a tricky bit of kit. It's such a simple mechanism that it's easy to think that you could make one. But the devil is in the details and it will probably take you 5 or 6 versions to get a reasonable one. Then to make one that's as good as the best on the market - forget it.

Agree on the lack of title. With that said, it was a great video and a bad-ass vise.

God forbid someone post a meaningless title, shades of Practical Machinest. Thanks for posting Alstair, I especially enjoyed him cutting the screw.
