  • OT, Nicky Hayden Accident.

Hello all, Im sure all you motorcycle race fans out there will join me in wishing Nicky a speedy recovery after his accident. He was knocked off his bicycle by a car in Italy, but unfotunately is in serious /critical condition in hospital.. A brilliant racer and a genuinly nice bloke.

I've followed Hayden casually since he was what ? 15?

Isn't that how it goes, "Dangerous Motorcycles", and then he gets dinged while riding a bicycle!

      Unfair!

One of my friends has said that it's safer to race motorcycles than it is to drive on public roads with one. I believe that- I've had my share of close calls, and he's been put in the hospital while riding street. Bicycles are not safer- I've had my share of close calls while on a bike too, probably more so than with any other vehicle.
I seldom do anything within the scope of logical reason and calculated cost/benefit, etc- I'm following my passion-

Three of my friends have been killed by cars on the road when they were riding bicycles. I've been almost killed twice by cars while riding a motorcycle. I don't ride anything on the road anymore. Too many drivers are doing everything except watching the road now. Dirt bike, OK. Road bike, NO.

I got out of MC racing about the time Earl was bringing his boys to the Nationals - about 1993. Truly a disaster to have happened to one of the nicest guys in motorcycle racing. Nicky is tough. So hoping he'll see this through.

Always hoped they when he retired from Intl comp he'd come home and win a mile dirt track and get that Grand Slam!

Not to distract form NH's calamity.

I've run the mile of dirt. 'Separates the men from the boys. I was just a boy.....

No way I'll ride my bicycle on the road in FL. Too many gray hairs and low IQ types.

The only consolation was that Nicky died doing something he loved doing, better than some horrible cancer. Will be sadly missed.
