  • Can Brake Lining Be Remolded?

I need to make two small braking pucks and the only thing I found in the "scrap pile" was a piece of delaminated brake shoe. Can this stuff be soaked or heated to make it lay flat?

How did they form the lining to the metal backer to begin with?

Maybe check with your local auto "parts house", or Graingers, or Macmasters. They may have what you need at less cost and headache.

I believe brake shoe is a bit brittle. seem a few with chips knocked out.

I am also interested in this topic, looking for responses...

Try your local HD truck brake reliner. They probably can supply what you need for a pittance. They also have a range of friction materials. Some are soft and sticky some are hard and slick. Tell them what you are doing and they can get you headed in the right direction.
