Paypal postage danger

I sell on Ebay and get paid and buy postage with paypal.I know, I know it is expensive,but it works for me. Sometimes ,I make a mistake or the printer doesn't work and the postage doesn't print.. I could just go to my paypal account page and void the lable . It took a week or so but I would get a refund.IT WORKED FINE,SO THEY HAD TO CHANGE IT.You cant do this anymore. So when you print your postage,STAY ON THAT PAGE AND CHECK YOUR PRINTER.YOU CAN STILL VOID THE LABLE.YOU CAN ONLY VOID THE LABLE FROM THE PRINT PAGE,at least for now,until the take this option away.Do these programers EVER get tired of changing things.or is this just job security?Edwin Dirnbeck

Your post reminded me that I had one from yesterday that I needed to void. The process was the same as it's been for a couple years at least.

This is what's been working for me.

Go to Print Shipping Label for the item in question.
Click Manage your shipment near the top of the page
Click Void, complete their little form, and go back to the manage your shipment page. The status should have changed to Void Requested.

I haven't noticed this yet, and I have voided or canceled postage paid labels for shipping.
What I have found is if you enter an incorrect weight and print the label and it doesn't have enough postage the person on the receiving end has to pay it. I've also heard that the postal service will put the difference on your pay pal account.
I've always found if you print the shipping label through ebay you get a discount on the shipping fees.

Yes, they do have an expiration date so to speak. I've gone back to a print label link a week later and it's still there.

I've sold several thousand items on eBay. I'm curious why you would go back to PayPal to print labels rather than direct from eBay? I use the eBay mobile app for listing and most functions but still print labels from the traditional eBay site. It prints a smaller, more manageable size label for small boxes, and also prints a receipt for postage cost on same sheet. I've occasionally printed a label from PP when someone buys / pays for something off eBay and I find it prints way too big and no receipt. I'm just printing with a black Brother laser jet on plain paper. If using a dedicated label printer maybe it works different?
Also, regarding the new system USPS has for verifying correct postage is paid-- they notified me, and charged my paypal Acct, an additional $2+ postage due for a "small flat rate box" parcel for which I had indeed paid the correct postage. It weighed 2-3 pounds and I suspect their auto system charged for calculated Priority instead of the flat rate box rate. I disputed the charge and they reversed it with no explanation. I expect it's all done with an optical scan prone to not recognizing box type?

I have never printed postage labels, but you might try printing to a PDF file rather than direct to printer. That way you might be able to adjust size, and it is a back-up in case the printer malfunctions.

Curious why you say ebay postage is expensive. I find it to be cheaper than any other method. Also I use a lot of the Flat Rate A and B boxes now, and you can't buy postage for those even on the USPS site. You have to go to the post office, and it's still more expensive than ebay. I wish I could buy all my USPS shipping through ebay. In fact, I called them last week and ask if there was a way. No.

Agreed, the discounts through eBay are great, and I think even more so if you sell a considerable volume. The regional A & B boxes are great too, especially for something going just a couple states away. Last time I looked at USPS "click & ship" they did not let you print labels for "1st Class Parcel" either which is great for small light items. With eBay labels 1st class weight limit is 16 ounces as opposed to 13 ounces at Post Office and you get the discount too.

And THERE IS a way to ship your non-eBay items using their system, assuming you have sold something on eBay recently. Go to your "sold listings" and click on "print another label", then change the ship to name & address, edit size, weight, and box type so it matches what you are sending. You get the same discounts. You can even switch it to Fedex. The only downside to this is that the eBay system automatically sends a confusing email to buyer of the original item telling them their item has AGAIN been shipped to a different address. I always pick an original item that has been safely delivered and positive feedback left so I know that buyer is satisfied. There is no way to prevent that goofy email from going out and I sometimes get a question from someone wondering about it. If so, I simply reply that I'm sending a family item using eBay system with the "print another label" feature.
