  • Pan and box brake. Partially OT

Posting on several sites; I'm looking for a 24" pan and box brake and I noticed that Baileigh has a 24 inch they claim will bend 16 ga.
Anyone have experience with this bender?

Based on my experience with my 24" Di Acro finger brake I suggest derating the Baileigh to 18ga.

Over rating sheet metal equipment is a common practice, even with the high end stuff. With a brake you can adjust it for a large radius bend which increases the machine's capacity, but for what most would consider a reasonable bend radius most machines won't meet specs.

You should be able to bend shorter lengths of 16ga no problem even with a 20ga unit. I can easily bend small pieces of 16ga (e.g: 6" wide) with my low end HF 30" 20ga 3-in-1. Same with shearing and rolling. I'd never try 16ga full length though.
