DRO scales Magnetic vs glass

What is the difference between the scales other than size, I want to put one on a lathe. Is there any advantage/dis-advantage of one over the other? I know there is a price difference but I don't consider that a problem.

lIt's a lot easier to adjust the length of the magnetic - just cut them. For the cross slide, magnetic is way smaller... if that's an issue for you. I have glass on my mill, magnetic on my lathe. Very happy with both.
