Lets say you picked a good steel for a part that was going to be a bearing race like say 52100 (?). If you told the place that was going to harden it what it was etc. would they know the temps. and such?
Yes. The full time heat treat places are very good at that, as long as you tell them the correct alloy, and the Rockwell hardness you want it to end up.
