Where can I get replacement bezels for dial indicators and test indicators?

  • #2
Those are going to be specific to the make and model of the indicator.

If it's one of the major names and the outfit is still in business I'd contact the company via email asking about parts. Even if it's not obvious which address to send it to I'm sure it'll be forwarded within the company to the right place.

If it's a cheap Asian indicator or from an outfit long out of business then you're out of luck. Just buy a whole new indicator or get creative and make your own. If it's got a domed crystal and won't take a flat replacement you might be able to buy a domed crystal from a major name source and adapt the bezel design to fit the different crystal diameter. Or maybe you can trim the diameter if it's too large.

You might check out your local watch repair shop, not the mall places but the real deal in a brick and mortar shop. They probably can get one for a pocket watch or like that would maybe fit.

To be clear: the "bezel" is the ring that holds the crystal in place. You need the bezel & not the crystal? It's usually the crystal that needs to be replaced.

Your right I need a crystal. Thank you. I'd take both if I could find one. The problem is the bezel/crystal will cost more than an import indicator.

This place here may be of some help to you http://www.longislandindicator.com/

But with all the different makes and styles out there nothing is going to be standard fit. Too many different sizes, mountings and retainers etc.
If it were me I would go to the original mfg. for exact parts.

                        JL.............

I have and they don't show any on their site. It's too old. Works great though.

This guy is not far from me and I have bought some Bezels for Mitutoyo indicators from him they are very will made I don't think you you could buy just the crystal for what he gets for the hole thing. Ken https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-bezel-w...S!-1:rk:3:pf:0

I have made a new crystal. There are a variety of videos/sites/forum posts on how to do it. Most of them talk about how to create the dome by heating or some such. I couldn't get any of that to work. Finally I found instructions that worked. It was simply a matter of cutting the blank just a tiny bit bigger than the bezel and then forcing it in. Which caused it to dome!

I used 0.040" polycarbonate that I got at a hobby shop. I had various PC in my pile, but none that thin.
