I'm on the free Alibre edition from way back when they gave it away. Since then I paid for maintenance a couple times, when it was around a $100. Once over that $100 I no longer paid. Then last June (?) they offered a new free version of Design for us old timers.
Everything was fine until I tried to use it recently. When I tried to "save as" or "export" a file it locked up. Emailing Alibre support, I figured they wouldn't help since I'm not paying for support. Surprise, they got right back to me. The problem turned out to be Win10 update from Oct, 2018. Microsoft has a patch that support will link you to. Problem solved.
Strange thing is the problem was only on my desktop, laptop worked fine, both on Win10 Pro.
