Carbide insert cut-off blades

Can I use one of the carbide insert cut-off blades in my cut-off tool holder that came with my BXA series QCTP or do you have to use it in the cut-off tool block and mount the tool block onto a tool holder? Trying to save some $$$$.Thanks.

Chris,

Cutoff tools may be a little more sensitive to flex than other cutting tools, so my opinion is the more pieces you can leave out the better, as long as it's securely clamped and you can center it.

I love those insert cutoff tools. If I had to sharpen a HSS cutoff blade, I'd still be cutting off on the bandsaw.

What is a recommended brand?

Any brand that does not recommend tapping the insert in with a soft faced hammer. Sandvik Coromant's has a lever type tool to seat the insert properly without impact.
