  • wanted: 2 3/8 X 6 Chuck or backplate

    Hey all,

I have this old P.O.S. Carroll dividing head
    that has a 2 3/8 X 6 spindle. I need a chuck
    or backplate with those threads.

    Any ideas? T.I.A. Matt

Make a step down adapter to reduce the thread to something that's more commonly available?

2-3/8"-6TPI is a South Bend standard for the 14-1/2" & 16"-24' lathes. It should not be too difficult to locate on eBay.

I have a 16-24 South Bend sweetheart that has 2 3/8-6 threads. I find ebay a good source. I may have an extra but will have to look deeply into the treasure trove. Chuck backs are also easy to make and are worth the set up as one can make several and have an extra to sell or trade.
