  • High temperature clear coating?

Who makes a high temperature clear coating in a rattle can? Is there such a thing?

    Thanks,
    Dan

      Dan,

The highest temp. coating is going to be a silicone resin. They use these on wood stoves and car headers for example. I don't know if they make these in a clear or not. Any resin is probably going to turn colors when exposed to high heat. The silicones will have the best thermal stability.

How high of a "high temperature" are we talking about?

        Enamel up to about 200.
        Lacquer up to about 300.
        Urethane up to about 400.

That's about all you'll get for clear in a spray can. Eliminate the spray can and you can get glass coat good for about 1500+. I've never seen clears available in anything higher.
