  • Atlas taper attachment

I've been wanting to find a taper attachment for my 10in.lathe,but not as complicated as the one in a recent issue.Happened to be looking at my Atlas manual an there's a Atlas taper attachment made for the 10in.and 12in.lathes.
Question, does anyone have such an animal and does it do the job??
    Thanks,George

    Hi George
Yes I have one and have used it a couple of times, yes it does do the job, takes a little to get used to. You must disconnect the cross feed
nut, one screw so the crossslide can move in and out by the attachment.
tool is advanced by having compound slide set at 90 deg. to the work.
Glad I have mine, used it to cut taper pipe threads , internal and external.

    Regards Graeme

Hey,thanks for the info! I'm on the lookout now for one,or might even make one since it's a lot simpler than the one in the recent issues of HSM.!!
      Thanks again,George

I started making one like the Atlas,2/3done already! Keep looking through my junk pile and using my imagination. That other 1/3 is in there someplace!
