For the most part as others have said - it is a printer. You send it a file and it prints it. Easy as that. whether you draw it yourself or download...

Understandable.. The thing to remember is that you don't have to be a programmer to run linux/linuxcnc. That hasn't been a thing or ages.

I bought a printer thinking it would be a bust. I use them all the time now. Really good for prototyping..

All I can say - Linuxcnc does all that well if you put a little effort into it. Because the motion happens in the computer - it opens up a lot of cool...

All of the gcode was written by hand....

The original ball screws in this lathe got wet or something.. they are 'crunchy' I tried re-balling them but it didn't help. the actual nut was pitted...

Currently the control isn't the limitation. The acceleration is the limiting factor. Plus it doesn't do any trajectory planning.. I made it a bit better...
